Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ScanHarvest website and mobile app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What ScanHarvest Does
ScanHarvest helps shoppers make informed food choices by looking up produce PLU codes, scanning packaged food barcodes, showing nutrition and ingredient information, and providing buy / check / skip recommendations. The Service is informational and does not sell or deliver food.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your location, you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Your Account
Some features may require signing in. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity that happens under your account. Notify us at support@scanharvest.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to break the law or violate anyone's rights.
- Attempt to access data that does not belong to you.
- Interfere with the Service, probe for vulnerabilities, or overload it with automated traffic.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or redistribute the Service or its content except as permitted by law.
- Submit knowingly false missing-product reports or misuse camera scanning to harass others.
5. Information Accuracy and No Medical Advice
Product information, nutrition facts, halal status, ingredient warnings, expiration hints, and buy / check / skip recommendations are provided for general information only. We work to keep information accurate, but data comes from third-party sources and physical labels may differ. The Service is not medical, nutritional, religious, or safety advice. Always read the actual product label and consult a qualified professional when needed. Do not rely on ScanHarvest for allergen decisions or medical conditions.
6. User Submissions
When you submit a missing-product report or similar content, you grant ScanHarvest a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use that information to operate and improve the Service. You confirm you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate anyone's rights.
7. Intellectual Property
The ScanHarvest name, logo, brand, and Service are owned by ScanHarvest and protected by applicable laws. Third-party product names and brands remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification only.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (hosting, database, authentication, AI, open food data sources). We are not responsible for their availability or content, and their own terms and policies may apply.
9. Availability and Changes
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms. If changes are material, we will provide a more prominent notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or its users.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information will always be current or accurate.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanHarvest will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (if any) or USD 25.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to ScanHarvest's principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Mandatory consumer protection laws in your place of residence still apply.
